Kyle Parker glad to stick with Tourists |
According to the Asheville Citizen-Times:
Having a less than stellar season in 2010 (12 TD passes, 11 interceptions) at Clemson helped cement his decision to stick exclusively with baseball. “It helped me make up my mind that baseball was a better option,” Parker said. “As far as the NFL was concerned, I could have stayed at Clemson, played football and had a good time and see what happened (with the NFL draft). “But I thought down the road I felt like I could have a better opportunity playing baseball. First of all, I love playing baseball, and, from a career standpoint, it was a better choice for me.” “No doubt Kyle was further along in his baseball development than Russell,” Asheville manager Joe Mikulik said. “Kyle has some pop in his bat and has done some good things for us this season.”
Parker left money on the table by wanting to play another year of football (he eventually signed for $1.4 million, and the Rockies agreed he could play a final season for Clemson last fall).
