Kelia Shelton Dismissed from Women’s Basketball Team

CLEMSON, SC – Sophomore guard Kelia Shelton has been dismissed from the Clemson women’s basketball team due to a violation of team rules, as announced by Head Coach Itoro Coleman on Friday. Shelton was to be one of just five returning players for the Lady Tigers in 2011-12.

Shelton appeared in 30 games as a freshman, starting seven contests. She averaged 4.9 points and 4.4 rebounds in her first season.

“I have met with Kelia Shelton and she will be leaving the team effective immediately due to a violation of team rules,” said Coleman. “We wish Kelia the best in the future.”

Clemson plays St. Augustine’s College on Friday at 7:00 pm in Littlejohn and opens the regular season next Friday when they welcome Davidson into town at 5:30 pm as part of a double-header with the men’s team.
