Humphries helps kids by giving up jersey number

Veteran wide receiver DeSean Jackson recently signed a three-year, $33.5 million contract with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. However, the talented receiver's No. 11 jersey was already being worn by former Clemson wide receiver Adam Humphries.

"DeSean gave me a call, asked me how much I liked No. 11, if I wanted to keep it, how it would be cool if he got it from me," Humphries said via tampabay.com. "We had some fun going back and forth, me asking him how much it meant to him."

"Eleven was good to me," he said. "But DeSean, obviously, he has the seniority part on me, and it means a lot to him. If you feel good, you play good. So we can work it out and help people out at the same time."

Both of them agreed to donate money to different charities as Jackson will donate money to a children's hospital in Tampa Bay while Humphries will donate some money to his hometown in Spartanburg S.C.

"We had a good idea it'd be good to help out a charity, to help the kids out locally," Humphries said. "For him to be a new member of the Tampa Bay area, it's good for him to get involved like that."

Humphries had an impressive 55 catches for 622 yards and two touchdowns as the team's No. 2 receiver in 2016. He had 27 catches for 260 yards (9.6 ypc) and a touchdown in his rookie season (13 games) in 2015. He will be a free agent in the spring of 2018.

The undrafted rookie and Clemson fan favorite earned a free agent contract after dazzling the Bucs' coaching staff in a two-day tryout back in May 2015. He was also impressive during the preseason as he led the team with nine catches for 139 yards and a touchdown.

The former Dorman high school product had 127 receptions for 1,097 yards and three touchdowns while at Clemson.
