Former Gamecock WR takes a jab at Clemson fans |
The Clemson faithful came out in large numbers to support several former Clemson players that were playing in the NFL Preseason game between the Panthers and Texans on Wednesday night.
Fans were eager to watch Deshaun Watson's first NFL action and he impressed with 15-for-25 passing for 179 yards with zero turnovers and had three rushes for 24 yards including an impressive 15-yard touchdown run. Former Gamecocks wide receiver Damiere Byrd caught four catches for 98 yards and two touchdowns during the contest for the Panthers. He was asked if it was nice to put on a show in front of the Clemson fans cheering for five former Tigers on the Texans roster. “Definitely. The funny thing is you never really see that orange until you win a national championship,” Byrd said about Clemson fans via the Charlotte Observer. “But it was good to be out there and have a good game like that.” Byrd went on to share that he had a good record against Clemson. “They only beat me one time,” Byrd laughed.
