Prairie View A&M head coach Willie "Shotgun" Simmons will be the next football coach at Florida A&M and will be introduced during an 11 a.m. press conference on Tuesday according to multiple reports.

Simmons has been at Prairie View A&M the last three years and had an impressive record of 21-11.

"We want to thank Coach Simmons and his family for their contributions to Prairie View A&M University," said Athletic Director Ashley Robinson in a statement.

"He led Panther football through an exciting period with the opening of our new football stadium and helped Prairie View A&M to again become a contender in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. We wish him success in his future endeavors."

Simmons has previous coaching stints at Alcorn State (offensive coordinator), Middle Tennessee State (offensive coordinator), and Clemson (graduate assistant).

The former Clemson quarterback lettered three years at Clemson from 2000-2002 and passed for 2,530 yards and 16 touchdowns in 24 games.
