Former Clemson DB placed on injured reserve

by - Assoc. Editor -

Former Clemson standout Mackensie Alexander has been placed on the Minnesota Vikings injured reserve with an abdomen injury on Friday, and consequentially the team has signed running back C.J. Ham off of their practice squad to take Alexander's spot on the roster.

Alexander had five tackles in 13 NFL games in his rookie season but played only 64 defensive snaps.

He was drafted by the Vikings in the 2nd round (54th overall) in the 2016 NFL draft. He did not give up a touchdown to the receiver he was assigned to cover over his last 23 games at Clemson. He was a second-team All-American and first-team All-ACC in 2015.

The Tigers with Alexander were the number two defense in the country in passes completed holding opponents to 47.6 completion percentage. In 638 snaps in 2015, QBs completed only 11 passes vs. Alexander and he also had 23 tackles and two tackles for loss.
