FS analyst on CU-Alabama: Deshaun Watson "not walking through those doors" |
Fox Sports college football analyst Joel Klatt isn’t buying Clemson beating Alabama for the second straight season in the college football playoff.
Klatt suggested that Clemson can't win against Alabama without their former signal-caller Deshaun Watson. "1061 yards. You might be thinking to yourself what the world is 1061 yards. Alabama gave up 1061 yards in their last two meetings with Clemson in the two National Championship games. 941 yards were directly responsible by Deshaun Watson. "He's (Watson) not walking through those doors," Klatt said. "I think if you give Nick Saban this amount of time versus a young quarterback who is inconsistent, played good down the stretch but inconsistent during the course of the season. You get healthy if you are Alabama. I like Alabama to beat Clemson. I know that is a less than popular opinion. I know a lot of people riding with Clemson right now. Dabo Swinney has done a heckuva job, there's no doubt." Klatt reiterated that Watson doesn't play for Clemson anymore in case you weren't paying attention. "941 of the 1061 yards were directly tied to Deshaun Watson. He doesn't play there anymore. In order to beat Alabama, you have to have a dynamic quarterback performance." Bryant has actually been a dynamic quarterback this season leading his team to a No. 1 ranking and a 12-1 overall record. He has passed for 2,678 yards with 13 passing touchdowns and only six interceptions. He also has shown his dual-threat ability by moving the chains running the ball with 646 rushing yards and 11 scores.
