Elijah Thomas to make season debut vs. Alabama

by - Assoc. Editor -

Highly touted transfer Elijah Thomas will make his long-awaited season debut for Clemson on Sunday against Alabama at the Legacy Arena in Birmingham, Alabama at 4 pm ET on ESPNU according to multiple reports.

This addition of Thomas will help out tremendously with the front court depth which the Tigers were lacking despite starting with an impressive 7-2 start out of the gate. From everything I have heard, Thomas is a talented and skilled big man that will fit in nicely with Clemson's talented core of players.

Fans get excited about this Clemson basketball team because they have appeared to have turned the corner on the talent level in the program.

Clemson coach Brad Brownell had great things to say about Thomas when he transferred in at the beginning of the year.

“I am extremely excited about the addition of Elijah Thomas to our basketball family,” Brownell said. “He is a very talented player who won a high school state championship in Texas and competed successfully at the highest levels of AAU basketball. He has excellent hands and a very good skill set for a young man of his size."

Thomas chose Clemson over Arizona State, Gonzaga, San Diego, and Nebraska.

The 6-foot-9 forward averaged 3.8 points and 2.5 rebounds per game, while shooting 63 percent from the field in 9.9 minutes per game for the Aggies in 2015.

In high school, he was one of the top 50 prospects in the nation for the class of 2015 according to ESPN. He averaged 26 points and 14 rebounds per game during his senior season.
