ESPN: Makes a case for Clemson for BCS shot |
From Heather Dinich of ESPN:
Who’s next, defending SEC East champ South Carolina? Maybe. If that’s not “strength of schedule,” I don’t know what is. No other team in ACC history has managed to beat three-straight ranked opponents, let alone three-straight defending champs. Let me deconstruct this like a poll voter for you: Of the six teams ranked ahead of Clemson in the BCS Standings, only LSU has defeated more ranked opponents. Alabama and Clemson have both knocked off three ranked opponents. Wisconsin’s best win is over Nebraska. Oklahoma State has only defeated two ranked opponents. Boise State? The Broncos’ best win was, and will be, against then-No. 19 Georgia. And no, I still don’t have Georgia in my top 25.
With the 23-3 win over the Hokies, Clemson completed a three-game sweep of champions: defending national champion Auburn, defending Atlantic Division champion Florida State, and defending ACC champion Virginia Tech.
