Doeren texts Swinney over laptop-gate |
North Carolina State head coach Dave Doeren spoke to reporters after Saturday's loss to Clemson and begged for an investigation on why Clemson had an 'illegal' laptop on their sideline during the game.
"I'd like to know why there was a laptop on Clemson's sideline, too," Doeren complained. "I'd like that to be investigated. Maybe they weren't doing anything but I was told it was illegal to have technology on the sideline so I would like to know that as well." The laptop was being used for social-media purposes and deemed a non-issue by the ACC. Swinney heard about the comments and said the following during his press conference on Tuesday. "Disappointing," Swinney said about the laptop accusation. "That was kind of a challenge to our integrity. Then you watch the tape. You know two years ago we go up there and one of the coaches pushes Deshaun Watson and this year we got some guy take a swipe at K'Von (Wallace). What if he breaks a finger? I think the investigation needs to be managing his side and not worrying about ours. I didn't get a call." However, it all appears to be over as Doeren reached out and sent Swinney a text recently. "He did not (mail back some towels)," Swinney laughed. "He did send me a text though. I appreciated that. He got some good humor out of it. Anyway onward." Swinney was asked if it was good to put the whole bizarre situation behind him. "Oh, yea. Yea move on," Swinney said.
