Dodd releases statement after being cut by Titans

by -

The Tennessee Titans released defensive end Kevin Dodd on Tuesday.

The former Clemson standout was on the 'Did not Report' list on Sunday after not showing up for training camp and the team decided to part ways.

Dodd had unluckily battled a foot injury during the offseason of his rookie season that required two surgeries so he never was able to show all of his football talents to the organization.

Dodd released a statement on social media discussing his departure from the team and to say thank you to the Titans.

"I want to take a moment to say thank you," Dodd posted. Thank you to Jon Robinson, my teammates and the entire Titans organization for believing in me and proving me with a life changing opportunity to start my NFL career. Nashville is a great city, and I am truly grateful for the opportunity and I will never forget it.

As a move forward, I take comfort knowing God has a plan for me and my career. Change is never easy, but I am thankful I WAS able to play a role in this decision to move forward and still have control over my football career and the goals I have set for myself.

Time will tell what is in store for me, but I am anxious to take this time to reflect on my next move, I am confident the next chapter will be a great one...especially with all the support of my family, friends, teammates and fans. Thank you for that!!"

Last season, Dodd had four tackles in nine games. During his rookie season in 2016, he had a sack and five tackles in nine games before being placed on injured reserve (foot).

He has only appeared in 18 games (270 snaps) since being drafted in the second round (No. 33) out of Clemson in the 2016 NFL Draft.

In 2015, Dodd was a breakout star at Clemson with 62 tackles, 12 sacks and 23.5 tackles for loss (second in the nation behind Clemson's Shaq Lawson).
