was voted as the greatest living Philadelphia Eagle in a recent poll by PhillyVoice.com.

Dawkins actually dominated the vote with 68.03% of the vote compared to the next two vote-getters - Donnovan McNabb (8.05%) and Tommy McDonald (4.52%).

“That’s an absolute blessing," Dawkins said about the vote. "It’s not something you set out to do when you first started playing the game. And I’m no different. It’s not something I set out to do. I just wanted to be my best and hopefully along the way I’ll be a good player and a good player for my teammates."

Dawkins is still very humbled even after all the awards and acclaim throughout his playing years with the Eagles.

"I always think about things as much as I can from the shoes of myself when I was younger and, you know, to think that, out of all the players that have played the game of football for the Philadelphia Eagles, for the fans to see me as one of the best — if not the best — to do it is very humbling."

Dawkins was a 9-time Pro-Bowler, 4-time All-Pro and had 34 inteceptions, 32 forced fumbles, 21 sacks and is a member of the Eagles Hall of Fame (his #20 jersey was retired in 2012).

He was drafted in the second round (61st overall) by the Eagles in the 1996 NFL Draft from Clemson.
