From Tulsa World columnist Dave Sittler:

BREAKING: Brent Venables just texted: "I'm staying." I assume he's serious.

Latest: Clemson still waiting on background check on Venables.

From Sooner Scoop:

Venables texted Sooner Scoop saying reports were "not true" as well.

I suppose it is also possible that Venables could be saying he hasn't signed anything yet. Could still happen...

From Charleston Post & Courier's Travis Sawchik:

Clemson BOT chair David Wilkins said no contract (Re: Venables) has been sent to board for approval

Clemson AD Terry Don Phillips said this afternoon no official contract offer had been made to Venables

Earlier there were multiple reports on twitter that a contract for Oklahoma co-defensive coordinator Brent Venables has been sent to the Clemson Board of Trustees for approval. ESPN's National College Football Reporter, Joe Schad, has also confirmed Venables will be Clemson's next defensive coordinator.
