Clemson, S.C. – No. 5/6 South Carolina downed Clemson, 84-48, on Sunday afternoon inside Littlejohn Coliseum, powered by double-figures from all five starters. The win moves the Gamecocks to 6-0 on the year, while the Tigers fall to 2-4.

Kobi Thornton led Clemson with 10 points and 10 rebounds for her 18th career double-double and first of the season. Mikayla Hayes and Shania Meertens each tallied eight points for the Tigers, while Kendall Spray had five steals.

Defensively, Clemson held the Gamecocks below .500 from the floor at 33-69 (.478), but were only able to convert four points on 14 South Carolina turnovers. The teams finished deadlocked at 44-44 on the boards, including a season-best 18 for the Tigers on the offensive glass. The Tigers also hit a season-best .857 from the charity stripe.

South Carolina’s defense held Clemson to 17-65 (.262) from the floor and converted 22 turnovers into 23 points.

The Tigers head to Daytona Beach for Thanksgiving, where they’ll take on No. 9 Maryland Friday and play Alcorn State on Saturday.
