ABC’s Saturday Night Football featuring Clemson at Louisville (8 p.m.) earned a 3.3 overnight and added a streaming audience of 140,000 in the average minute, up 57% and 337%, from last year’s SNF week 3 (USC at Stanford). Now three weeks into the season, the SNF franchise is averaging a 5.2 overnight, the highest rated franchise across all network and up 43% from the first three weeks of the 2016 season. The streaming audience in the first three weeks, 181,000 in the average minute, is up 143% year-over-year.

ESPN and ESPN2 Also Generate Prime Time Growth

In addition to ABC increasing its prime time overnight and streaming audience in week 3, ESPN and ESPN2 also followed the trend as LSU at Mississippi State (7 p.m. on ESPN) earned a 1.4 overnight and a streaming audience of 83,000 in the average minute, up 17% and 26%, respectively from last year comparable ESPN window (Texas A&M at Auburn). Colorado State vs. Alabama (7 p.m. on ESPN2) increased the network’s overnight audience by 43% as the Rams-Crimson Tide earned a 1.0 overnight, outpacing last season’s Mississippi State-LSU game which aired on ESPN2. The streaming audience for Colorado State-Alabama was also up 9%

ABC, ESPN and ESPN2 were the only networks airing college football games to increase their primetime ratings year over year in week 3.

ESPN Experienced Ratings and Streaming Growth Throughout Week 3

ESPN experienced ratings and streaming growth throughout week 3 with Notre Dame at Boston College (3:30 p.m.) increasing the network’s overnight and streaming audience by 63% and 72% respectively, over the same window last year as the Fighting Irish-Eagles matchup earned a 1.3 overnight with a streaming audience of 66,000 in the average minute. Oklahoma State at Pittsburgh (noon) delivered 57% and 23% increases in rating and streaming audience, respectively, for the network over the same window last year, as the Cowboys-Panthers posted a 1.1 overnight, with a streaming audience of 54,000 in the average minute.

ESPN’s Networks Set the Pace on Cable

Across all of week 3, ESPN’s networks aired the top 7 highest-rated games on cable, with the aforementioned matchup between the Tigers and Bulldogs setting the pace.
