Clemson DB thought about transferring last season

by - Assoc. Editor -

Clemson sophomore defensive Adrian Baker was interviewed by the local media on Monday and had some interesting comments about his thoughts of transferring last season due to a lack of playing time.

"I had a lot of moments especially my redshirt freshman year," Baker said. "I barely played and I was just real down. I actually wanted to transfer. I talked to Coach Swinney about transferring. He told me 'Man. Just stick it out. You will be alright. He always talked to me about Coty Sensabaugh and about how he didn't start till his redshirt senior year. So I actually talked to Coty a lot. He encouraged me a lot and just guys around me would just stay on me. Like Garry Peters he helped me out a lot since I have been here. He's a guy that took me under his wing when I first got here. Travis Blanks as well. So those guys kept encouraging me, just telling me to fight through it. I just stuck with it and kept the faith."

Baker did not have a particular place that he desired to transfer to but like most talented players, frustrations can set in not being able to showcase your abilities on a national stage.

"Not really a place (to transfer). I was frustrated by not playing," Baker said. "I mean that was pretty much it. I was just young and just wanted to leave. I thought the grass was greener on the other side. That was pretty much what it was. I didn't have a place, but talking to my grandma she was just like you are not going anywhere so just stick it out."

Baker had a crucial interception late in the first quarter between Clemson and Florida State that really turned the momentum of the contest.

In the last three games, he has six tackles and the interception.
