Clemson-Alabama had economic impact of $274 million

The College Football Playoff National Championship game on January 11 had an economic impact of $273.6 million according to a study on Wednesday by Arizona State's School of Business.
Clemson and Alabama fans flocked to Glendale, Arizona with an estimated 100,000 visitors to the area to dine at restaurants and stay at hotels with an average spending for a fan of $468 to $524 per day.
“Our research team came away with a firm sense of the economic magnitude of this game,” ASU business professor Michael Mokwa said. “But major sporting events have another impact that is not captured in the numbers — they bring together the region in the spirit of sports and add to the quality of life for Arizonans.”
