Bengals replace one former Clemson DT for another

The Cincinnati Bengals placed Brandon Thompson on the injured reserve because of a knee injury and promoted defensive tackle DeShawn Williams from the practice squad to the active 53-man roster.

Thompson appeared in nine games this season and had eight tackles, three tackles for a loss and a half of a sack. He will be a free agent after the season after signing as a third-round draft pick back in 2012.

Williams has not seen any action in the regular season but did have four tackles and two sacks in the preseason. He was a undrafted free agent in 2015 and was waived in the final rounds of cuts on Sept. 5 and then signed to the practice squad the following day.

While at Clemson, Williams had 161 tackles, 16.5 tackles for loss, five sacks over 53 games (17 starts).

The Bengals are the champions of the AFC North and will host the Steelers on Saturday night at 8:15 pm EST on CBS.
