Avry Holmes injury update

#12 seed Clemson advanced in the ACC tournament with an impressive 75-61 win over #13 seed North Carolina State on Tuesday afternoon. However during the early stages of the second half, senior shooting guard Avry Holmes injured his left ankle after landing awkwardly after taking a three point shot.

Brownell hopes that Holmes will be able to give it a shot against #5 seed Duke on Wednesday at 2 p.m. EST on ESPN.

"We are optimistic he will be able to play," Brownell said. "Trainer said you can put him back in see how him goes, but I told him a couple minutes into it when he came back 'Hey I am going to try not to play you. If we can keep the lead at double figures I'm not going to put you back in the game. I rather you rest it. Let's get more treatment and try to get you as ready as we can for tomorrow [against Duke]. He will certainly give it a go and we will see how he is. I'm hopeful he will be able to play and help us because he has played very well down the stretch. As a senior I know he is highly motivated and wants to be out there. I'm sure he will give it a go. We will just how it looks tomorrow."

Holmes played 20 minutes against the Wolfpack and was 3-for-7 shooting including 2-for-5 on three-pointers for 8 points and he also had an assist, a rebound, and a steal.
