Auburn announces starting quarterback |
The start of the long awaited 2017 college football season is almost here and teams are starting to nail down different key starters for their respective teams.
#5 Clemson will face off against a tough oppoen#13 Auburn on Saturday, September 9 at 7 p.m. in Death Valley. One of the questions surrounding the SEC Tigers was the quarterback that they would bring start against Clemson. Auburn coach Guz Malzahn announced on Monday via Twitter that Jarrett Stidham has won the job out of fall camp. "Just told team Jarrett Stidham will be the starting QB," Guz Malzahn posted. "The team is excited for Jarrett and ready for the season!" Stidham is a transfer from Baylor and signed with Auburn last December after playing a season in junior college. In 2015 as a true freshman at Baylor, he completed 75 of 109 passes for 1,265 yards with 12 touchdowns and only two interceptions. The sophomore should give the Tigers a dramatic boost to a passing offense that a ranked a horrid No. 112 in the nation last season. Stidham will make his debut against Georgia Southern on Sept. 2 and then Auburn will roll into Death Valley during a nationally-televised primetime game. In other roster news, Virginia Tech announced on Monday that redshirt freshman Josh Jackson has won the starting quarterback job for the Hokies and will get his first test Sept. 3 against West Virginia.
