Houston Texans president Jamey Rootes, whose named has been mentioned in connection with the search for a new athletics director at Clemson University, said in a text message to FOX 26 Sports he remains committed to the Texans.

"It is quite an honor to be mentioned as a potential candidate for such an important role at my alma mater," Rootes said. "I love Clemson University, but thoroughly enjoy everything about my role at the Texans.

"The McNair family, our outstanding organization, our great city and the best fans in the NFL are a winning combination. I am fully committed to Houston and the Texans.
