2018 ACC Tournament Bracket set: Clemson's path in Brooklyn |
No. 18 Clemson opens play at the ACC Tournament on Thursday next week as a 4-seed versus an opponent to be determined.
The Tigers (22-8, 11-7 ACC) will have a 2 p.m. approximate start on ESPN (and ACC Network) in Brooklyn’s Barclays Center versus the Wednesday winner of 5-seed NC State against 12-seed Boston College or 13-seed Georgia Tech (a Tuesday first round game). No. 1 Virginia likely awaits next in a 7 p.m. Friday semifinal (ESPN). Clemson split matchups with NC State (78-62 win in Clemson; 78-77 loss in Raleigh), took a win at Boston College (74-70) and swept a home-and-home with Georgia Tech (72-70 in Atlanta; 75-67 in Clemson). The Tigers closed their regular season Saturday with a 55-52 loss at Syracuse. Brad Brownell’s group reaching 11 ACC wins was a school-record. According to Clemson SID Tim Bourret, the Tigers finishing in a tie for third in the ACC standings after being picked 13th in the media poll is the biggest disparity in ACC history. Clemson entered the day projected as a 4-seed in the NCAA Tournament by BracketMatrix.com’s average, which would tie a school-best.
