Clemson guard
Shelton Mitchell took a blow to the head and couldn’t stand up after he hit the floor with 9.1 seconds left in overtime in the game with Florida State on Wednesday evening. Florida State players immediately waved to the Clemson bench for assistance for Mitchell.
Mitchell was helped off the floor and taken to a local hospital for a CT scan. Mitchell will remain overnight in the hospital as a precaution. Clemson lost to FSU 81-79 and will face Duke at home on Sunday afternoon. Update: 2/15/18 3:00 PM: Shelton Mitchell arrived safely back in Clemson this afternoon. He is currently undergoing concussion protocol and his status will be updated during head coach Brad Brownell’s media availability tomorrow afternoon.
UPDATE: Shelton Mitchell was transferred to the hospital and will remain in Tallahassee overnight as a precaution with our trainer Brad Crowe and Terrell McIntyre.
