Players To Watch: Andrew Diomande

by - Correspondent -

Andrew Diomande has been a work in progress since he stepped on campus. One thing has been obvious with Diomande and that is he has a lot of raw potential. Wide receivers coach Dabo Swinney has continued to work on making Diomande a more polished receiver. Saturday could be a day where the Celemson fans see just how far Diomande has come.

In past years, someone has stolen the show on offense that you did not expect to. Do not be surprise if that player this year is Diomande. Diomande has had an excellent spring, and he is just scratching the surface.

If his play carries over into the fall, redshirts will be coming for Jeffrey Ogren and Kendrick Johnson.

Diomande can be very dangerous with the ball in his hands. He showed last year he had the ability to pick up yards after the catch. It was not his ability to run after the catch that kept him off the field.

On Saturday, watch Diomande on running plays. Swinney demands all of his receivers get involved in blocking. If a player is not doing his job on running plays, his playing time will suffer for it. Also, watch to see if it appears Diomande is on the same page with his quarterback. His route running has not been up to standard in his first two seasons, but all signs point to improvement there.

If you wanted a sleeper to watch for on Saturday, Diomande is my pick to have a big game.
