Perfection and Nothing Less

A common theme that is coming from the first two spring practices is perfection. New offensive coordinator Rob Spence is installing his new offense, but is not settling for anything less than perfection. With the new west coast style system being implemented, precision is becoming of more importance.

The intensity of practices have picked up, but the players have not seemed to mind. All of the players are carrying themselves with an extra bounce in their step. Eager to confront the challenges that await them. Charlie Whitehurst has had two strong practices to start the spring.

A factor going into the spring was developing the new systems. It is becoming more clear after each practice that they will find the 11 players who execute the system to perfection.

The intensity will be stepped up on Monday. The team will move from skeleton drills into full pads. Once in full pads, the coaches will begin to get a better feel on the progress being made. The new systems could be put to the test in a half scrimmage on Thursday before the players leave for spring break.

The bar has been set very high, very early, but with good reason. The players need look no further than their first game in September to get the sense of urgency they need. A common label on the Bowden era has been inconsistency, but in the early spring it appears the coaching staff is on the right track to fixing the problems of the past.
