Question-What do you think about the kicker situation this year? Who will have the place kicking job, Dean or Furr? Is there a good chance that a walk-on could come in and take the job this year? Chris

Answer-Placekicking is difficult to predict. Remember the Auburn kicker who could not miss a a junior and could not hit the ocean as a senior. As far as the placekicking job, I think the competition will continue throughout the fall camp. Furr was more consistent in the spring. Dean had the stronger leg. I think Bowden will favor whoever is more consistent in August. I also am not sure which walk-ons are coming in this year but if they are more consistent then they will start. Dean is solid as the kickoff specialist and Chason is solid as the punter.

Question-Help settle an argument for me. At what positions are my Gamecocks better than Clemson this season? Bill

Answer-This is very subjective so take it for what it is worth. I think many positions are close enough that you can make an argument for either side. But here goes my best guess--Quarterback-Clemson. Running back-USC. Wide Receiver-USC has the headliners but Clemson has the depth. USC must catch the football better. Going into the year let give Clemson the edge. TE-Clemson. OL-Very close. Clemson has better guards and centers and depth. USC has much better tackles. Toss-up. DE-Both are loaded. DT-USC. LB-USC. DB-Clemson has a much better secondary. Special Teams-Too many question marks to form an opinion in July.

Question-Who will be Clemson's next commitment? Charles

Answer-It is hard to tell when a guy pulls the trigger but here is a list of guys that say they could commit to a school before the season: Thomas Austin, Jamarcus Grant (September), Damien Wright, Josh Miller, Antavious Coates (maybe). We think Clemson is in the top two will all five of those prospects. The trend this year is for guys that will say they want to commit before their senior season to get the pressure off and concentrate on their season but many will decide they like the attention. Then they are soft commitments so they can take more official visits as the year goes on.
