Question-I am worried about linebackers for the future. Should I be this concerned? Tom

Answer-Good question. I think there is young talent at linebacker but Clemson needs players like Nick Watkins and Courtney Vincent to be as good as the staff thinks they are. This is a position where the staff would like to sign three true linebackers and maybe a big safety or two. I think they are in great shape with Josh Miller. The Tigers still lead FSU. Antonio Clay is very serious about Clemson but the Tigers will have to beat the world for him. Ryan Stamper is also a very serious candidate. We are trying to get in touch with three linebackers Clemson is recruiting in South Florida right now. Stay tuned for updates in the next few weeks.

Question-Is Brandon Nolen a player? Will he play this season? TJ

Answer-The staff is excited about Nolen. He has great speed and continues to improve his overall game. I know fans get tired of hearing it but playing running back is more than carrying the football. A lot of young backs need time to learn how to catch the ball out of the backfield and pick up pass rushers. Nolen has made great strides. He will get time this season but remember Coleman, Kelly, Merriweather and Browning are more experienced. Remember too that Nolen will be a red-shirt freshman this season.

Question-How has the staff changed it recruiting territories this year? Tanner

Answer-The biggest change is more coaches in North Carolina. The last couple of years only Mike O'Cain recruited the state. Now the staff has three or four guys there. Out of state recruiting is still so important and Clemson would like to make a bigger impact in North Carolina. Swinney has been outstanding in Florida and Alabama. West and Burns have done a great job in Georgia. The staff would like to have that kind of success in North Carolina in the next few years. It makes sense to recruit the state of North Carolina more because the Tigers play in the state so often.
