Recruiting is the life blood of every program. One aspect of recruiting that never gets enough attention is the number of hours assistant coaches spend out on the road. Friday Clemson linebackers coach David Blackwell spent all day in Illinois, while preparing to play Temple.

Blackwell was in Illinois to watch Clemson verbal commitment Jamie Cumbie. The trip was not the norm for Blackwell, as Illinois is not an area Clemson frequents in recruiting. Coach Blackwell's area normally consists of the upstate of South Carolina and the south Florida area.

Each Friday the Clemson assistants are on the road viewing at least one sometimes more than one prospect. Friday was just an extended visit for Blackwell.
