Golden Eagles Peaking At The Right Time

by - Correspondent -

Clemson will take on Oral Roberts this weekend at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The Super regional will begin Friday at 3 p.m. While Oral Roberts flew under the selection committee’s radar, they have been one of the nation’s hottest teams in the second half.

Since going on a seven game losing streak, Oral Roberts is 31-3, including winning their last eleven games. They came into last weekend’s regional as the #3 seed, but what went unnoticed was they were 3-0 against Oklahoma State and Arkansas coming in.

The Golden Eagles handled Oklahoma State 18-2 in their two regular season matchups. They defeated Arkansas 5-4 in the regular season. The Eagles cruised through the Fayetteville Regional.

The Eagles pitching staff did not surrender more than four runs to go along with some timely hitting. The Golden Eagles needed two runs in the ninth to beat Oklahoma State on Saturday, and then Sunday posted 9 runs in the championship game.

During ORU’s current they are 23-1, when they hold opponents to four runs or less. In 12 of the 14 losses, opponents have posted more than four runs against the Golden Eagles.

Clemson defeated Oral Roberts in the championship game of last year’s regional. This year the Golden Eagles will have their entire pitching staff ready for the Tigers this weekend.
