Will Terrell Smith and TJ Williams qualify?
At this moment, it does not appear either will make it. Originally, I believed Terrell Smith had the better chance of making it, but now it appears Williams stands the better chance, although neither is very likely.
Who avoids redshirts and do you see any freshman starting this year?
James Davis, Rendrick Taylor, Tyler Grisham, Ramon McElrathbey, and Quentez Ruffin avoid redshirts. Demerick Chancellor and Antonio Clay also have a very good chance or playing right away. It is very difficult for true freshmen to come in and start. I will go out on a limb here, I think McElrathbey has a chance to become a starter by midseason. The corner spot opposite Tye Hill is still very much open, and McElrathbey stands a chance to step in.
Is there a commitment looming in the near future?
Richard Jackson has been saying for weeks now he is close to a decision. I still believe it is Clemson, but he keeps putting off his decision. I really expected his decision to come down this week, mainly because he said he would make his decision this week. There are other players that Clemson leads with, but none appear to be ready to pull the trigger.
What is the biggest concern you have about this year's football team?
Without question wide receiver, the talent may be there, but the results have not been. Chansi Stuckey must show he can stay healthy, and Kelvin Grant must prove he can keep his head on straight. Two redshirt freshmen and two true freshmen will be counted upon to play and provide results. This is not the ideal situation to have.
Is this the best offensive line under Tommy Bowden?
In July, I think it stands a good chance to be. Injuries and players showing up out of shape can always change it, but on paper this could be the best offensive line Bowden has had at Clemson. The recruiting efforts the last three years have done wonders to help sure up the offensive line. Barry Richardson is the key. He cannot have a sophomore slump similiar to Justin Miller two seasons ago. He must report with the same fire he had when he stepped on campus last summer.
