Clemson Adds Staff Member Temporarily

by - Radio Host -

When Tommy Bowden decided not to retain three coaches this past week it meant the current number of assistants went down to six. NCAA rules allow only seven coaches on the road at one time despite each staff having nine full-time assistants. Usually each school has to decide which two to take off of the road each week. However, since the Tigers were down to six they decided to put Graduate Assistant Billy Nappier on the road for the first time. When Clemson hires it new coaches Nappier will be taken off of the road. This happens often. For instance when Steve Spurrier was hired at USC he had Graduate Assistant Phil Petty on the road until Petty was named QB coach at ECU this week. This will be a good experience for Nappier.
