ACC Tournament Notebook

We will have an updated tournament notebook after each day of the ACC tournament.

Day 1

The Tigers cruised to a 13-1 victory over Wake Forest in seven innings. The Tigers outscored the Demon Deacons 52-5 over a four-game stretch. The highlight from first day was DJ Mitchell. Mitchell went 2-4 with 3 RBI and 2 runs scored in place of senior-captain Travis Storrer. It was a good sign for the Tigers as Storrer had been one of the hottest bats on the team prior to his injury. It will be a tough spot for the freshman to continue to thrive in, but he passed the test day one.

The Tigers will face their nemesis in Georgia Tech on Friday. It appears head coach Jack Leggett will keep his rotation in order by starting Stephen Faris against the Yellow Jackets. Faris was the starter in the final game of the regular season series in which the Tigers lost 22-4. The Tigers were eliminated two years ago from the ACC tournament. These are two of the nation's best teams as they are ranked first (Clemson) and sixth (Georgia Tech) in the RPI.
