Yanity Out as Play By Play Announcer
A few weeks ago I got wind that there were some changes that were coming in the play by play duties at Clemson but I did not trust my sources.
Friday I received two phone calls saying something was up and keep an ear to the ground on the subject but I was still skeptical. Yesterday we received the official word.
Pete Yannity is out as the play by play announcer for Clemson football and men's basketball. Don Munson will take over as the football play by play guy and there is no decision yet on the men's basketball duties.
As friend of both gentlemen, I am happy for Don and his new duties. At the same time, I am sad for Pete.
I was always amazed at Pete's ability to handle the play by play duties of two sports at the same time. He was wonderful at juggling both sports while doing nightly sports broadcasts at WSPA-TV in Spartanburg.
This past year I flew to two Clemson road football games with Pete on early Saturday morning flights. He had been up late doing Friday night high school football and was still very prepared for a long day of Clemson football. I am a big fan of one of the hardest working men in sports and wish Pete the very best.

about the Tigers unique schedule when they play four games in four days.
LeCroy said Clemson will start left-handed sophomore Zack Erwin on Friday night against James Madison. Saturday the Tigers will go with Matthew Crownover against the Dukes. Sunday Clemson plays UNLV in Greenville and will start Daniel Gossett. Monday they return home to face UNLV and will pitch Jake Long.
LeCroy said this week's schedule was obviously different since there were no mid week games due to exams. He said that four games in four days presents some issues but they also have to consider a mid week game next week against High Point and a three game set at Notre Dame next weekend when setting the rotation. LeCroy said the Tigers have to finish strong in their remaining 12 regular season games and maybe a break this week will help Clemson recover from getting swept at home against Miami.
Transfer
Clemson got a transfer from Stanford this week when David Olson announced he is coming to Clemson. Usually a potential fourth string quarterback is not major news, but this one is a pretty good deal for the program.
First, Olson did not play a lot at Stanford. He was a fourth team guy there and starts out fourth team signal caller here. Clemson needs four quarterbacks since the numbers were down after

was dismissed.
Second, Olson is a senior and will not affect the number of recruits in the future.
Also Olson is immediately eligible since he graduated from Stanford. He has a fifth year and will be eligible from day one instead of having to sit out a year.
So a fourth team quarterback should not be big news but this is a pretty good situation. Clemson gets a bright guy that has some experience that may be able to get them through a game if injuries arise and it doesn't affect recruiting.
