Mickey,

In terms of star ratings, how does the Clemson defensive line stack up against others? Thanks and love your show and blog!

Tim

Tim,

I am not sure how this line stands up against others, but as far as rankings go, here is how rivals.com had the defensive linemen ranked:

5 Star-Christian Wilkins, Dexter Lawrence, Xavier Thomas, K.J. Henry

4 Star-Clelin Ferrell, Austin Bryant, Albert Huggins, Nyles Pickney, Xavier Kelly, Jordan Williams, Justin Foster, Justin Mascoll

3 Star-Jabril Robinson, Chris Register, Sterling Johnson, Logan Rudolph, Josh Belk, Darnell Jefferies

Mickey,

Woulda, coulda, shoulda? Maybe the best half of basketball I have seen from a Clemson team in years could not make up one of the worst in Chapel Hill and another try down the drain. Man there were chances and even some unbelievable shooting in the 2nd half could not overcome several plays that just went the wrong way. Watching the tape of the game will be brutal for Clemson because it could have been the night but they have to take great pride in the effort.

Going into the game, I thought we had zero chance of winning but with every 3 pointer after half, I changed my mind little by little. Is it harder to break a no win streak or to continue a no loss streak? As I have said before in this forum, I learned many years ago from our Hall of Fame coach in college that the words never and always should not be used. Wow we were close to beating never and maybe once before I leave this earth, I will see it happen. Now to borrow from Dabo, we can't let one loss turn into two.

Andy

Andy,

You are correct in that we saw the best and worst offensive stanzas of the season. The defense was an issue for the entire game. Clemson couldn’t guard the Tar Heels and gave them way too many open looks.

The Heels have no issue continuing the streak, but the main reason is they are usually better than Clemson. I think Clemson fans put too much emphasis on the streak and talk about it too much. I think bringing attention to it makes it more difficult.

Mickey,

Is it just me or is it asinine for the basketball officials to stop a basketball game for approaching 5 minutes to decide to put a second or two back on the clock?

To me it gives a team that is out of timeouts an extra one and completely disrupts the flow of the game. Maybe in the last 15 seconds on an 'unusual' play but this has become routine. It happened as we were waiting for the OU-TCU game to wrap up so we could watch our Tigers and again in the Clemson game.

Give me a break!

Rebel Yell

Rebel Yell,

I think the rule is they can go back and review in the last two minutes of each half. I do think we are over officiating now. We are spending way too much time on way too many reviews.

Mickey,

I listen every morning and thanks for making the commute with me every day. I was one of the guys writing about more email blogs, so thanks. They are great!

With the entire defensive line coming back, I am worried about replacing such a high number the following year. Is this a major concern?

Sean

Sean,

I guess it's like worrying about taxes after you win the lottery. This is something we wanted. They will have to replace seven or eight defensive linemen, so I guess it is a big priority in the next recruiting classes. It does help to have players like Xavier Thomas, K.J. Henry, Jordan Williams, Josh Belk, Justin Mascoll and Xavier Kelly coming back. My guess is defensive tackle will be a slightly bigger priority than defensive end.
