Spring Game-Offense

Saturday was a great day in Death Valley. The crowd was incredible. The recruits loved it. The weather was perfect.

Tomorrow I will touch on the defense and special teams, but today I wanted get into some offensive notes.

It was good to see Deshaun WatsonDeshaun Watson

moving around so well. He moved better than he did during the South Carolina game.

looked good early. He looks like he understands the offense better than the freshmen. He may be able to get you through a game or two in case of injury. He looks like the backup.

showed some bright spots, but I really do worry about his size. It will be interesting to see what adjustments he makes to compensate at this level.

got off to a slow start and looked like he was overwhelmed. However, as the game went on he improved. We saw some of his upside as he felt more comfortable. Also the game rules where you can't hit the quarterback hurt Bryant because he would be more effective without the quick whistle. I think we saw glimpses of his potential.

The running backs were a bright spot. Wayne GallmanWayne Gallman

looked the most comfortable yet. He looked healthy and showed power. CJ Fuller ran hard. CJ Davidson has a couple of big gains. Zac BrooksZac Brooks

most of the day and I was impressed with the true freshman. He looks so fundamentally sound. Fruhmorgen had a few more issues, but his upside is very high. I can see both of those guys playing this year, and I think you can win with both this year. Isaiah BattleIsaiah Battle

played well in the snaps I watched. I did not get chance to watch the interior offensive linemen as much because I was focused on the freshman offensive tackles.

I thought it was a clean game. The offense had few penalties, turnovers and negative plays. I liked the pace of the offense. I also liked the red zone offense.

And just think, it all gets better when the Heisman Trophy candidate quarterback returns.
