Let's face it, Duke, without the best player in the ACC, Marvin Bagley, is still a better basketball team than Clemson. The sad things are that once again, there were times that Clemson just looked simply lost and that Gabe Devoe is in a slump at the wrong time. I hoped that when Devoe hit his first shot that things would change for the Tigers but sadly, the change was a total collapse in the last two minutes. We all hope Mitchell comes back and Devoe goes on another hot streak.
Big time coaches in any sport make big bucks by coming up with offensive plays and defenses that take advantage of a weakness the other team has. Both FSU and Duke have exposed Clemson for being unable to pass well enough, or make enough basic fundamental decisions to break pressure. If Clemson does a better job passing the ball, rebounds better and starts making shots again, the schedule is favorable for at least getting one bye in the ACC Tournament and possibly a double bye. If anyone had said before the season that a double bye was even in the conversation, the person's sanity would have been questioned so this year has been a huge success. Time is running out but the fat lady has not sung yet.
It is sad to say, but Duke is better than Clemson in basketball. That's no shocker. With two starters out, Clemson looks like most teams in this league and will have a hard time against the elites or playing on the road. Shelton Mitchell’s health is a huge key. They pass better, and the offense runs better with the starting point guard healthy. Again, this is not a shocker. The good news is he may come back, and the schedule does ease up a little. This could have been a magical year, but the injuries remind us how small of a margin of error Clemson basketball is faced with.
How many spots will the football staff sign in 2019 class? How many for each position? Also when is next junior day? Thanks for the info.
The staff will have a full allotment of scholarship for the class of 2019. The position numbers are fluid but here is what I expect at this point:
They have a junior day coming up March 3.
It’s early but wanted your opinion of the opening series in baseball. Are you worried about the offense? The pitching and defense were encouraging but the offense disappointed.
I think you hit the nail on the head. I was concerned about the defense, but they looked great. The only error was a pick-off move on Sunday.
I was not surprised by the pitching. The staff feels like they have a lot of talented arms. The only question was experience.
Finally, I am not too concerned about the offense yet. Let’s see where they are in 20-30 games. We know Davidson, Beer and Williams will hit. My questions are about the bottom the lineup. How they hit will determine the success of the offense, it too early to be concerned.
