Mickey,

Despite the article showing that the FPI predicts Auburn will be the second toughest win for Clemson you still say that Auburn is a lock win. I have already stated that you are wrong about Auburn and say so again. You talk about 4 and 5 star athletes and Auburn has a ton, their stadium is huge and will be the loudest place Clemson has played since Georgia and the main reason is the enormous motivation that they will have to get back to the top and that is on their minds each and every day since Alabama beat them and went on to win the National Championship. We all know that the FPI is an ESPN baby and it goes without saying what ESPN thinks about the SEC but please do not make the mistake of writing off Auburn because a 1 point win Clemson will be just fine.

Andy

Andy,

I must have missed how awesome Auburn is going to be next season. I guess I am the only one that watched them win just two of their last 11 SEC games. I did watch Auburn lose. Nine of their 19 games. Take away wins against Samford, Jacksonville State, San Jose State and Idaho and they went 6-11.

Traditionally, Auburn is a good program and is a tough place to play. I just don't see Auburn being very good. They have issues. Sure they have some talent like Carl Lawson and Montravius Adams, but they have a lot more question marks than answers. How is Kevin Steele going to stop Deshaun Watson and his weapons?

This one won't be close.

Mickey,

It's still hard to fathom that we played in the Natl Champ game last year.....after all those lean years since Danny Ford left, it just doesn't seem possible. To end the season by playing in the ACC champ game, then the Orange Bowl and then the Natl Champ game was just Big Game Overload and I couldn't get enough. The press coverage was nonstop and wonderful, now I know how Alabama and Ohio State feel most years. I'm really looking forward to the Auburn game hype to kick in, come August, there should be plenty of ESPN coverage.

What are your thoughts?

Is there any way to get just your blog in an RSS feed? When I clicked on the RSS icon in your blog, it showed all news stories, but not your blog.

NJTiger

NJTiger,

Clemson should enter the season ranked in the pre-season top five. A top five team opening at Auburn will usually be a big deal. The opening weekend of college football is phenomenal this season, but Clemson and Auburn one of the huge games that weekend.

I will check with Tommy and the guys about the RSS feed. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

Mickey,

Late last fall---Oct or November--speaking with my daughter in Charlotte she said that she and hubby had gone to a Providence High Football Game where the punter averaged over 50 yards a kick and had kicked into the end zone on 3/4 of his KO's. She sent me the film and

I looked at it. Kid is 6'3", around 205 ---so plenty of room to grow and improve leg strength. Sent it over to the Tigers recruiting area and never heard a word back. Needless to say last time I'll do anything to help them if they are so into themselves as to not send a 1 or 2 sentence reply. Apparently the Tigers didn't even take a look. Oh well if the kicking game costs them again this year may e then they'll wake up and smell the roses. Its is such an integral part of football it is beyond my ability to understand why they have not got top notch players in place

to take the issue off the table.

Slater

Slater,

I am not aware of the player, but I am aware of Clemson's recruiting. First, they get hundreds of tips from fans all of the time. I am not sure why you would be offended that they don't take time out of their extremely busy schedule to correspond. I know Clemson stops by Providence High School several times a year. They recruit the area hard, and that is a huge school that they recruit. I also know that Clemson did not have a scholarship available for a punter last year. I also don't know where that particular player ended up. Finally, I wouldn't assume the staff is so into themselves. I am not sure why you made that assumption.
