Friday Email Bag
Each Friday I publish your comments and answer your questions. To submit a comment or questions please email me at [email protected] Mickey, I read your blog"Game Plan" today. Folks get excited about our QB, WRs, and other skill players on offense and defense. Yet, the fortunes of the Tigers will largely depend on the O-line and D-line. If you can't win in the trenches it makes everything else fall apart. Kindest Regards, Kirk Kirk, I agree with you, but it helps to have dynamic playmakers in skill positions. Oregon has not been very good along the lines of scrimmage, but has been as good as anyone over the last ten years. There are ways to scheme around offensive line issues sometimes. Defensive lines are hard to scheme around though. But you are correct, it all starts up front. Mickey,

It’s the time of year for predictions. My heart wants 11-1, but my brain tells me 10-2 with a trip the ACC title game. I think the ACC gets left out of the playoff this year. A pivotal game will be Notre Dame. I think that holds the key to the season. If we can win that one, then it sets the tone for rest of the season and we are playing with house money. If we lose, we are playing catch up. I would like to get your thoughts on the record and the pivotal game for us.
If this team stays healthy it can win every game. However, a key injury or two at certain positions could mean eight or nine wins. I think 10 wins is a safe pick. The Louisville game is a key game to me. It is a road game. It is on a Thursday night. And it is a division game. If the Tigers lose this one, it could be tough to recover considering Notre Dame, Georgia Tech and FSU follow.
Clemson is the pick to win the ACC title this year. In addition to that they are favored to win all their games this year. With these two facts how is Florida State and Notre Dame picked over them in the polls?
We are talking about three different groups here. The regional media that covers the ACC picked Clemson to win the ACC at the conference's media days outing in Pinehurst. The AP poll is the national media. That group consists of voters from around the country. One could conclude that FSU and Notre Dame have a better reputation and name recognition in a national poll. But remember these are subjective polls and it is difficult to predict the future. Everyone has a different opinion. Some like butter pecan and some like rocky road. I am a vanilla bean guy myself.
