Hello Mickey,

I read your blog, "Running Game" today.  I think you hit the nail right on the head.  Even if we click in the passing game with our new QB and WRs it will be imperative to be able to run the ball.  As you pointed out, there is a very strong correlation between a strong rushing attack and winning.

Do you see a scenario where Watson takes over because the team is struggling but not necessarily due to poor QB okay?

BTW, we miss it when you are not able to write your blog.

Kindest Regards,

Kirk

Kirk,

The running game has been good in the past three years but will still play a bigger part of the offenses his year.

The staff feels great about Watson and his potential. There is always the risk of playing a true freshman at quarterback but Watson is special. This week Chad MorrisChad Morris

mentioned that Watson will play at Georgia so he will get his shot. But I think he playing time will be predicated on his play and not the success of the team.

Mickey,

Hope Ryan and Yourself are doing good.

I just have a few questions for you about the 2014 season. It's never to early for football.

On both sides of the ball give me your take on which unit will be much improved and which unit could hurt this team. And what's your take on this years season from a media stand point no one expects Clemson to do much but if you look at next year would the media be more anti Clemson with what there loosing next yr? I mean to me this season would be better than next season.

Thanks Mickey. Hope y'all have a great 4th.

BJ

BJ,

I think the quarterbacks will play better than some think. I also think the backs will be productive. I worry about the wide receivers and their inexperience. On defense the front seven will be very strong but I think the secondary will improve as well.

I am not surprised media expectations are low. FSU is loaded and Clemson will be without marquee stars like Tajh BoydTajh Boyd

. Big names are the ones the media knows about.

I don't think they will be improved this year but I don't think this season will be a major step back either.

is holding down near the bottom in the asst coaches' pay scale? What am I missing? And please don't even mention age. Something here just doesn't look right.

William

William,

That is a good question. I am not sure what goes into those decisions but my guess is his level of experience. That is a question for Dabo SwinneyDabo Swinney

but my guess would be experience.
