Hi Mickey,

I keep hearing that Clemson's basketball team loses no one, and gets back Rooks plus the 2 incoming freshmen. Was this year's roster 3 players short, or will someone get the boot to make room for these players?

Thanks,

Will

Will,

Clemson would be one over the limit next season if you count the two incoming freshmen. Therefore, one player will not be back next season. The most likely scenario is K.J. McDanielsK.J. McDaniels

going pro, but that decision won't be made until the next week or two. If he comes back then another player would not be back next season. I think this situation clears itself up fairly soon. Hopes this helps.

Mickey,

It looks like Jake Fruhmorgen will commit to Clemson next week. How soon do you think Fruhmorgen and Mitch Hyatt can play at Clemson? How do they compare to our current tackles? Thanks.

Derek

Derek,

Hyatt and Fruhmorgen are two of the top ten offensive tackles in the country according to rivals.com. Both could sign with any program in the country. Offensive linemen are the toughest to project though. A few years ago players like Seantrel Henderson, Robert Mattes and Robert Crisp were highly recruited and all were not what we expected in college. Its just difficult to project. What that said, Hyatt and Fruhmorgen have more positive tools and more polished than any tackle Clemson has signed in years. Offensive tackles don't usually avoid redshirts but both have that kind of potential. If Battle returns next season, I doubt either could beat him out in his senior season, but the rest of the tackles might be fair game. Still remember that these guys will be just 18 year old kids playing against 22 year old men at times.

Mickey,

Where do you think Clemson will be picked next season if K.J. comes back? Where would we be picked if he leaves? Thanks. Go Tigers!

Russell

Russell,

It is still too early to tell. It depends on what some of the other underclassmen will do. I think Jabari Parker is staying at Duke. Miami is set to get two guys back and will be picked in the top half of the league. I think Virginia Tech will be better with Buzz Williams. Louisville is better than Maryland. Syracuse loses Ennis and Fair but still should be picked ahead of Clemson. My guess is with McDaniels Clemson gets picked between fourth and seventh. Without him they are picked between sixth and ninth.

Mickey,

All the talk early in camp was about Chad Kelly but is it just me or has Cole Stoudt made his move? Thanks.

Charlie

Charlie,

I don't think Stoudt had to make a move. I think he was slightly ahead going into the spring. I also understand that Stoudt was very good in the scrimmage this week. This race is not over but the name trending among the candidates right now does appear to be Stoudt.
