Florida State Review
A lot of us spent a lot of time analyzing what we thought could happen Saturday night in the Clemson-Florida State game but this one came down to two pretty simple facts.
First, Clemson played its worst game of the season while FSU played its best. Second, the Seminoles were a better football team at almost every position.
The Tigers turned the ball over on the first play of the game and were quickly down 17-0. Clemson's four turnovers were a major factor in the blowout. FSU didn't need help to win the game but the Tigers helped end the game early in the second half.
The difference in talent level is a major concern. Clemson is really good at quarterback but the Seminoles were better.
Clemson has some good running backs, but FSU has three NFL backs.
The Tigers have an excellent group of wide outs. The Noles group of WRs is perhaps the best in the country. The same thing can be said at tight end.
Florida State dominated both lines of scrimmage as well. In fact, Clemson's dynamic duo of

were not a factor in the game.
Perhaps the biggest difference in the two programs came in the secondary, where FSU's defensive backs were physical and made big plays while Clemson's were getting beat all night.
The Seminoles were the more talented team. They were the more physical team and they were the team that executed extremely well.
Clemson has several All-ACC candidates. FSU has as many All-American candidates.
The Tigers' three and four star recruits were beaten soundly by Florida State's four and five-star recruits. Clemson was outplayed and out coached Saturday night, but the real difference is that the Tigers were out recruited the past few years. This game was won over the past few Februarys.
Clemson is a very good football team but FSU is an elite team.
On Saturday night Clemson would have been beaten by a lot of teams across the country, but I doubt anyone could have beaten Florida State.

a chance at the Heisman Trophy. It cost Clemson six or seven spots in the BCS rankings. But in the short-term, it humbled the Tigers.
Now this coaching staff has its biggest challenge of the season in front of them. There is a saying that states, "Don't let one loss beat you twice." Clemson now heads on the road to play at Maryland Saturday afternoon and this football team is bruised and battered. There is still a lot to play for this week. Unfortunately, there is less to play for this week than there was last week, but that’s what happens when you get humbled.
