Did you know that this is the 4th year in a row that Clemson's semi-final opponent only had to play 12 games instead of 13?
Keep up the great work on your show! You do your job well! Thanks!-David
Someone told me that today and I didn’t realize that until today. It was not a factor in the Ohio State and Oklahoma games. It might have been a factor last year. Hope it won’t be this year. I can see how it is a concern, but I doubt it will be too much of a big deal by the time they kick it off on December 29.
I’ve enjoyed reading your blog posts on Tigernet for many years. It’s been nice watching all the fan base go from doom and gloom to back in the pre-Dabo era to the great place the program is at now — quite a ride. I’m curious if you have a particular moment or W that you feel was the turning point that jump-started Clemson football onto the trajectory of national significance again?
Some members of the football staff have mentioned the LSU win as the turning point. I had an assistant coach tell me that the staff worked the team’s butt off in prep for that game. He said they beat the guys up physically in preparation and it paid off in the game. He said had they lost the game it would have been hard to work them as hard as they did in the spring without resentment, but the win gave them a new mindset on work ethic. I have read Dabo say how important that win was as well. Hope this helps.
What does the rest of the recruiting board look like this year? Also, how does offensive line recruiting look for 2020? Thank you.
The staff would love to sign another running back with Ealy at the top of the board. I think Clemson is in great shape here, but MLB may be a factor. They would like to sign two more offensive linemen with Webb and Putnam at the top of the board. Webb will announce Monday for UGA, Bama or Clemson. Putnam will announce this month for Clemson, Auburn or FSU. I think Clemson leads Michigan for Crouch. Clemson leads FSU for Tyler Davis.
The 2020 class looks like it could be the best in school history. They have three commitments and will take two more. John Williams of Canton, GA, Walker Parks of Lexington, KY and Paul Tchio of Alpharetta, GA are three highly thought of commitments. They are in the top five for players like Kevin Pyne of Mills, MA, Andrew Gentry of Littleton, CO, and Jalen Rivers of Orange Park, FL. Those are three top 100 offensive linemen. In summary, this should be a great group of OLs.
With Urban out at Ohio State, will we get back in it with Harry Miller of Buford, GA?
I am sure Clemson will make a call, but at this point, I don’t see anything changing with Miller. Hope I am wrong.
