CLEMSON, SC -- Head Women's Basketball Coach Jim Davis has signed a
five-year contract to coach the Lady Tigers through the 2004 season as
annouced by Athletic Director Bobby Robinson Monday afternoon.

The contract will increase Davis' base salary from 92,500 to
105,000 each season and will increase his current contract length from
three years to five years.

"Clemson is a great fit for me and my family," said Head Coach
Jim Davis. "We have enjoyed our relationship with the Clemson family
and look forward to many more years of service to this grand
institution."

Davis has led Clemson to two Atlantic Coast Conference
Championships in 1996 and 1999. He has also led the Lady Tigers to
four consecutive ACC Tournament Championship games (1996-1999). The
ACC Championships are the first in basketball in school history.

He has also led the Lady Tigers to 12 straight Postseason
Appearances (11 NCAA Tournaments) and has led Clemson to four NCAA Final
16 Apperances and one NCAA Regional Final in 1991. Davis has led
Clemson to 10 top 25 seasons during his 12-year Clemson career,
including a number 10 ranking in the final Associated Press poll in
1998-99. Last season, the Lady Tigers finished the season with a
school record 26 wins against six losses.

Davis has a 259-116 record at Clemson in 12 years and has
averaged 21.6 wins per season during his tenure. He is the fourth
winningest coach in ACC history. He was named ACC Coach-of-the-Year in
1990 and 1994 and has posted 42 wins over top-25 teams and 17 wins over
top-10 teams in his Clemson career. He has coached 15 All-ACC Players
and has had at least one All-ACC Player each season since his arrival in
1987-88. In six of the last seven seasons, at least one Lady Tiger
has made the first team All-ACC squad.

Since Jim Davis took over the coaching reins at Clemson in
1987-88, the Lady Tigers have won 12 regular seasons tournaments and
have a 32-7 record in those tournaments.
