Clemson, SC-Former Clemson All-American and 1997 NCAA Champion Charles Warren won the Cox Classic on the Nationwide Tour on Sunday afternoon in Omaha, Nebraska. The 1998 Clemson graduate had a final round 66 to finish with a 269 total, 21-under par, to defeat John Elliott by one stroke.

It was the second consecutive victory for Warren, who won the Samsung Canadian PGA on the Nationwide Tour two weeks ago in his most recent start. It marked the first time a former Clemson golfer had won consecutive events on the same tour in the same year. Warren had rounds of 65-71-65-66 for his 269 score.

Warren, a native of Columbia, has now won three events on the Nationwide Tour in his career. Two years ago he captured the BMW Charity at the Cliffs. With the victory on Sunday, Warren is now in the top five on the Nationwide Tour money list with over $250,000 and has already won enough money to finish in the top 20 for the year, guaranteeing him a spot on the 2005 PGA Tour. It will be his second appearance on that tour, as he qualified for the PGA Tour through Q school the year after he graduated from Clemson.

On Sunday, Warren made up a three-shot deficit in gaining the victory. He had a great start, recording birdies on his first three
holes. Coming down the stretch his key hole was the 17th where he
made an eagle three to tie the score at 21-under. He hit his
approach shot out of the rough to within three feet from the cup.
Warren then pared the 18th hole, but Elliott made a bogey when he missed a four-foot putt.

Warren has now finished in the top 10 in four of his last six tournaments, including the back to back victories. Over his last two tournaments and eight rounds, Warren is 40-under-par.
