Pairings For the ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament

GREENSBORO, NC — The Duke Blue Devils claimed the No. 1 seed in this weekend’s 2004 Atlantic Coast Conference Women’s Basketball Tournament which will begin Friday, March 5, at the Greensboro Coliseum in Greensboro, N.C.



This is the fifth-straight year the women’s tournament will be held at the Greensboro Coliseum. This year’s tournament is set to tip-off on Friday, March 5 and end with the championship game on Monday, March 8. The tournament schedule is as follows:


Friday:

Game No. 1 - Seed No. 8 Georgia Tech vs. Seed No. 9 Wake Forest, 11:00 a.m. (RSN-TV)


Saturday:

Game No. 2 - Seed No. 1 Duke vs. winner of Game 1, 12:00 noon (RSN-TV)


Game No. 3 - Seed No. 2 North Carolina vs. Seed No. 7 Virginia, 2:30 p.m. (RSN-TV)


Game No. 4 - Seed No. 3 NC State vs. Seed No. 6 Clemson, 6:00 p.m.


Game No. 5 - Seed No. 4 Maryland vs. Seed No. 5 Florida State, 8:30 p.m.


Sunday:

Game No. 6 - Winner of No. 4/No. 5 vs. Game 2 winner, 1:00 p.m. (FSN)


Game No. 7 - Winner of No. 3/No. 6 vs. Winner of No. 2/No. 7, 3:30 p.m. (FSN)


Monday:

Game No. 8 - Championship Game, 7:30 p.m. (FSN)


For the first time in league history, six of the eight ACC Women’s Basketball Tournament games are set to be televised. The opening round game on Friday, as well as the first two quarterfinal games on Saturday will be aired on the league’s regional sports networks (Comcast SportsNet, FOX Sports Net South and Sunshine Network). Sunday’s semifinals and Monday’s championship game will be televised nationally by FOX Sports Net. This is the third year that the tournament will have three nationally televised match-ups, up two from 2002.
