Duncan Scores Hole in One

Clemson, SC-Clemson junior Brian Duncan scored a hole-in-one on Tuesday during the final round of the Hootie's @ Bulls Bay
Invitational in Awnedaw, SC. For Duncan, it was the first
hole-in-one of his life in any round of golf.

Duncan scored the hole-in-one on the par 3 17th hole at Bulls Bay. The hole is 187 yards in length and he used a five-iron.
Duncan finished with a two-under-par 70 for the day, helping Clemson to a 291 team score for the final round.

It was Brian Duncan's first career hole-in-one, but the 11th for his family. His father Bill, an accomplished amateur golfer from Greenville, SC, has made seven, while his brother Ben, a starter on Clemson's 2003 National Championship team, has made three.

It was the second hole-in-one by a Clemson golfer this year and the fourth in the history of the program in team competition.
On November 7, 2004 at the Carpet Classic, Clemson junior Stephen Poole scored a hole-in-on on the par 3 eighth hole at The Farm.

The other two hole-in-one shots in Clemson history took place
just nine days apart in 1999. The first took place on September 12,
1999 at The Ridges Intercollegiate in Jonesborough, TN. Michael Hoey, who went on to win the British Amateur in 2001, scored a
hole-in-one on the par three 16th hole. He negotiated the 205-yard
shot with a three-wood.

On September 21, 1999 in Opelika, AL, All-American John Engler, then a junior, scored a hole-in-one on the par three 17th
hole at Grand National Golf Club. He used a nine-iron on the
150-yard hole during the Ping/Preview.
