CLEMSON — Clemson University and the University of South Carolina are taking their rivalry off the field in the first-ever fundraising challenge between the two schools.

The two schools are competing to see which one can net the most donors to its annual fund between Oct. 6 and the end of the year. People donating to Clemson before Friday, Nov. 13, will be entered into a drawing for two tickets to the Clemson-USC football game in Columbia on Nov. 28.

To be counted for the competition, donations must be made online at http://www.kickthechicken.net. Donations of any amount will be accepted, as the competition will be based on the number of people making donations, not the amount of money raised. And anyone can donate, not just alumni.

“I feel confident that Tigers everywhere will pull together so Clemson can win this competition, but this challenge is really a win-win for everyone at both Clemson and USC,” said Brian O’Rourke, director of development and alumni affairs. “With state support decreasing this past year, both universities are in need of donations, and a competition like this is a fun way to get students, alumni and fans excited about showing their loyalty and supporting their school.”

Fans can follow the progress of the challenge online at http://www.kickthechicken.net.
