Clemson Releases List of Secondary Violations |
CLEMSON, SC -- As is its policy to do twice a year Clemson announced its NCAA secondary rules violations on Friday. The names of the sports, coaches and students involved have been redacted by the university.
Violations can be classified as either secondary or major. Secondary violations are those that provide only a limited recruiting or competitive advantage. Violations for period July 1, 2005 through January 1, 2006. Date: September 2005 Facts: NCAA Bylaw 13.10.2 Comments Before Signing. Coach quoted in the newspaper commenting on the anticipated contribution of a prospective student-athlete before the individual signed a National Letter of Intent or institution’s letter of acceptance and/or financial aid. Results: Reported to the ACC. Penalty: Letter of reprimand issued to the coach. Prospect declared ineligible until reinstated by NCAA Student-Athlete Reinstatement Committee. Rules education. Date: January 2006 Facts: NCAA Bylaw 13.6.3 Length of Official Visit. Prospective student-athlete’s return flight was delayed causing them to miss the connecting flight. All other flights were cancelled until the next morning. Prospect remained for an additional evening and departed the next morning. Reported by coach to compliance services. Results: Reported to the ACC. Penalty: None. Reviewed legislation with coach.
