Clemson Golf Schedule Announced

Clemson, SC-Clemson will play a 10-tournament regular season schedule, five in the fall and five in the spring, according to its
2006-07 schedule released Thursday by head coach Larry Penley.
Clemson's travel schedule includes trips to Hawaii and Puerto Rico, and its first ever appearance at The Colonial, the famed Fort Worth, TX course that plays host to a PGA Tour event each year.

"This is an outstanding national schedule, one that will test our young team," said Penley. "We will have a lineup that will be dominated by young players and it will be a stern test against a national schedule. But, I have always believed that competing against the top teams in the nation makes you stronger."

By virtue of its number-seven finish at the NCAA tournament last year, the Tigers will return to two national events in the fall.
Clemson will compete in the Ping/Golfweek Preview at The Golden Horseshoe in Williamsburg, VA October 2-4. That event features the top 15 teams in the nation on the course that will play host to the
2007 NCAA Championship in late May. Clemson is also back in the Callaway Match Play, a tournament held at Colonial Country Club in
Fort Worth, TX. It is the only match play event on the schedule.
Clemson did not play in either event last year.

Clemson kicks off its schedule September 15-17 at the
Carpet Classic in Dalton, GA. This tournament was played in November last year, but is now the season opener for many of the top schools.
Then freshman David May finished second in this event last year.
After the Ping/Golfweek Preview, Clemson will compete in the Isleworth Collegiate at Isleworth Country Club in Windemere, FL.

After the Callaway Match Play, Clemson will travel to Hawaii
for the first time since the 1998-99 season. That year Clemson won
the Mauna Kea Invitational behind the play of medallist Lucas Glover, who is not ranked among the top 25 golfers on the PGA Tour
money list. Clemson will compete in the Aloha Purdue Collegiate at
Poipu Bay Golf Course in Kuai, Hawaii. The two-day 54 hole event will conclude on Thanksgiving Day.

Clemson opens its spring schedule in Puerto Rico for the 12th time in the last 14 years. The tournament will be played February
25-27 at the Westin Rio Mar Golf Course in Rio Mar, Puerto Rico.
The remainder of the spring schedule includes four other tournaments that Clemson played last year. The Tigers make their annual trip to Las Vegas for the Las Vegas Invitational March 9-11.
Clemson will then take 19 days off before competing in the Augusta State Invitational at Forest Hill Country Club in Augusta, GA.

Clemson will play in the US Collegiate at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, GA April 9-11. Clemson is the defending champion thanks to a medallist performance by 2006 senior Stephen Poole. A national field that includes Southern Cal and Oklahoma State will compete in this tournament. This course will also be the site of the 2007 NCAA East Regional.
Clemson closes out the regular season at the ACC Tournament at the
Old North State Club in Uwharrie Point, NC. This will be the
ninth time in the last 10 years and the sixth consecutive year that the Old North State Club has played host to the ACC tournament.
Clemson has won the ACC tournament at this venue four times in the last nine years and never finished lower than fourth.

The NCAA regional tournaments get underway May 17. The East Regional will be played at the Golf Club of Georgia in Alpharetta, GA, while the Central will be at Rich Harvest Farms in Sugar Grove, IL. The West Regional will be at Karsten Golf Course in Tempe,
Arizona. Clemson played in the Central regional last year, the
first time in the 18-year history of the event that Clemson did not play in the East.

The NCAA Tournament will be played at the Golden Horseshoe in Williamsburg, VA, the first time the NCAA Championship has been held at this course.
