Clemson Adds Two Golf Signees for 2003-04

by -

CLEMSON, S.C.-Zack Siefert and Tanner Ervin have signed letters of

intent to play golf at Clemson beginning in August of 2003, according

to Head Coach Larry Penley. Siefert and Ervin, are the last two

South Carolina 4A State Champions. The signings will continue to

give Clemson a golf roster that features all players from the state

of South Carolina. Clemson won the National Championship in May

with an all South Carolina roster.

Siefert is a native of nearby Simpsonville, SC and attended

Hillcrest High School. He has had a highly decorated junior record

over the past few years. He began his list of accomplishments in

2000 by setting a tournament record in winning the North Augusta Jr.

Invitational.

As a sophomore, Siefert finished second in the 2001 4A State

Championship. He also finished second in the South Carolina Match

Play that same summer. In 2002, he won the Players Championship and

South Carolina Junior Championship. Siefert, a 4A All-State

selection as a junior, was honored as the Jay Haas South Carolina

Player-of-the-Year.

Siefert's senior year was highlighted by a victory in the

2003 4A State Championship. He finished his high school career as a

five-time all-region honoree as well.

Ervin, a native of Mt. Pleasant, SC, attended Wando High

School. Like Siefert, Ervin won the Players Championship (2001). In

2002, he won the Junior Rice Planters Tournament. His major prize

that season was capturing individual honors at the 2002 4A State

Championship.

Ervin was an All-State selection in 2002 and was also honored

as the 4A Player-of-the-Year that same season. Ervin, who has been

Wando's team MVP for the past three years, was a six-time all-region

selection.
